Bicirio – Call for Papers

There’s still time! Runs until Monday, 29/8, registration of works for the bicirio

What is the Velo-City Conference cycle planning globally respected, uniting thousands of experts who share their experiences in the use of the bicycle as a means of urban transport.

The Fleece…-City takes place annually. In odd-numbered years, is headquartered in a European country and has, local coverage usually only in Europe and focused on the region is organized. In even-numbered years, is called the Velo-City Global and has world scope, attracting experts from all over the planet in high level discussions.

Rio de Janeiro are applying for the host city of the Velo-City Global 2014. In the preparations for the proposal, will hold an event along the same lines, on a smaller scale: bicirio.

The Velo-City Global is the world’s largest Convention on bicycles and happens regularly since 1980. The last edition was held in 2010, in Copenhagen. The next will be in 2012, in Vancouver. More details in the box next to.

Call for papers

Right now, are open to proposals that civil society organizations, companies and Governments present their achievements. The idea is that by promoting the exchange of experience, the successful actions of any country can be replicated by Brazil and the world.

Entries must be within three basic themes:

-insertion of cycling culture in society
-Actions toward mobility by bicycle –
best practices-actions of public authorities towards the mobility by bicycle –

Best practices work can be sent until August 29 and selected will be released on 05 September day. More info here. Run, that there’s still time!
